Devendra Singh Bora Dismisses Rohit Sharma for Golden Duck in Vijay Hazare Trophy after his Century in First Match

Young Uttarakhand pacer Devendra Singh Bora produced a memorable moment during the 2025–26 Vijay Hazare Trophy. He dismissed star Indian batter Rohit Sharma for a golden duck. The incident happened during the second-round match between Mumbai and Uttarakhand on December 26. The match was played at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.

Rohit had come into the game in great form. He had scored a stunning 155 runs off 94 balls against Sikkim just a few days earlier. However, this time, his stay at the crease was extremely short. He was dismissed on the final ball of the first over.

Bora’s Big Break Against Mumbai and Rohit Sharma

Devendra Singh Bora bowled a well-directed delivery that forced Rohit Sharma into a mistake. The Mumbai batter handed a simple catch to Jagmohan Nagarkoti, who was bowling alongside Bora with the new ball. Nagarkoti later removed Angkrish Raghuvanshi as well, dismissing him for 11 off 20 balls.

This match was only Bora’s third List A game. He made his debut earlier in the tournament against Himachal Pradesh. Despite Uttarakhand losing that match by 95 runs, Bora impressed with figures of 4 for 44 in 8.3 overs. His List A bowling average now stands at 19.50, with a strike rate of 20.2.

Bora also has decent experience in First-Class cricket. He has played 15 red-ball matches so far. He has taken 30 wickets in 26 innings. His best performance is 6 for 79. He has one five-wicket haul to his name.

Earlier this year, Bora shone in the Uttarakhand Premier League. Playing for Dehradun Warriors, he picked up nine wickets in seven matches with an economy rate of 7.91.

Mumbai still managed to post a strong total of 331 for 7. Bora finished with impressive figures of 3 for 74 in 10 overs. Apart from Rohit, he dismissed Siddhesh Lad and Shams Mulani. Hardik Tamore top-scored for Mumbai with an unbeaten 93 off 82 balls.
