Jarrod Kimber Announces New Book on Virat Kohli at Ekamra Sport Literature Festival 2025

Jarrod Kimber made a big announcement at the Ekamra Sport Literature Festival (ESLF) 2025 in New Delhi. The well-known cricket writer and filmmaker revealed that he is working on a new book based on the life and career of Indian cricket superstar Virat Kohli. Kimber said he wanted to be in Delhi to make the announcement, as the city holds a special connection with Kohli. He also shared that although he reached out to Kohli for a collaboration, the cricketer politely declined to participate. However, Kohli did not stop him from writing the book.

During his talk, Kimber expressed how long he has admired Kohli. He told the audience that he had followed Kohli’s journey since his early days in cricket. The festival crowd responded warmly to his announcement. Kimber also discussed his ongoing interest in cricket writing and how this new project is one of the most exciting of his career.

Jarrod Kimber Shares Details About His Upcoming Virat Kohli Book

During his session at ESLF, Kimber said, “It’s been a big honour to be asked here (at ESLF) as I really wanted to be in Delhi to announce that my new book is Virat Kohli and I am honoured to be able to write a book on him. I have been obsessed with Virat Kohli since the moment he came out and I know he is a Delhi boy, so I will try to do my best I can with this book and I happy to make this announcement here in Delhi.”

He also explained his attempt to reach out to Kohli for cooperation. He said, “I did contact Virat to say I am writing a book on you and ask if it is okay? And he said, ‘Yes’ but he will not talk to me (not collaborate with me) which is I honestly believe is perfectly fine.”

Kimber was in Delhi for the seventh season of the festival. On November 22, he also spoke about his earlier book “The Art of Batting” during a conversation with Sanjeeb Mukherjea. Kimber is an Australian cricket writer, filmmaker, and podcaster who has earned global recognition for his work. He has written five cricket books and worked as editor of SPIN Magazine and as a writer for ESPNcricinfo. He also co-directed the award-winning documentary Death of a Gentleman.

The festival also announced a new development. Starting next season, ESLF will include awards for international sports book writers. This marks a major step in expanding the festival’s global reach.
