There is new hope for the start of this season’s Indian Super League (ISL). The All India Football Federation (AIFF) and Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL) held an important meeting on Monday.
In a joint statement, AIFF said the talks were “constructive and positive.” Both sides agreed to work on a common proposal for the future of Indian football. This proposal will be presented to the Supreme Court on August 28. Since the matter is still under court review, both sides refused to comment further.
ISL 2025 Season To Start in October-November
Sources confirmed that FSDL has agreed to run the ISL for another year. As per the master agreement, FSDL must pay Rs 25 crore to AIFF by December 2025. AIFF has also asked for an additional Rs 25 crore for the rest of the season. But FSDL is pushing to lower this amount to around Rs 10–15 crore. Negotiations are still on.
Officials said the ISL is likely to begin in October or November. This would mean a delay of almost two months compared to last season. The delay will also allow I-League winners Inter Kashi to make their debut as the 14th team.

There were early talks of hosting the Super Cup before ISL, but that plan now looks unlikely. Six of the 13 ISL clubs have not yet started their pre-season training. The new plan could see a six-to-eight week pre-season camp before the league starts in October-November.
Experts tracking the developments also hinted at changes in broadcast plans. Last season the ISL was streamed on JioCinema and Hotstar. This year, discussions are on with new broadcasters, though nothing has been finalized.
Sources also said the agreement is close to being signed. The AFC has set a minimum number of matches for clubs to be eligible for continental competitions. Both AIFF and FSDL are working to meet those requirements.
The Monday meeting is seen as a green light for all ISL clubs to restart their preparations.
