India’s Hokato Hotozhe Sema made his mark at the Paris Paralympics 2024, securing a bronze medal in the men’s shot put F57 final. Sema’s impressive throw of 14.55 meters earned him a podium finish, adding to India’s growing medal tally in para-athletics at the prestigious event.

The F57 classification is for athletes with lower limb impairments, and Sema faced tough competition from athletes across the globe. Despite the pressure, Sema’s powerful throw in the final round ensured he clinched the third position, narrowly missing out on silver by just a few centimeters.

Brazil’s Thiago Paulino took gold with a throw of 15.10 meters, while Iran’s Amanollah Papi claimed silver with a throw of 14.75 meters. Sema’s bronze, however, is a major achievement for India, as the nation continues to showcase its talent and determination in para-sports.

In the same event, India’s Soman Rana delivered a commendable performance, finishing in fifth place with a best throw of 14.10 meters. Although Rana missed out on a medal, his effort added to India’s strong presence in the event.

After the competition, Sema expressed his joy over the result, saying, “It’s an incredible feeling to win a bronze at the Paralympics. I’m proud of what I’ve achieved, and I hope this inspires more athletes in India to pursue para-sports.”

With Sema’s bronze medal, India has once again demonstrated its growing strength in the Paralympics, further raising hopes for continued success at the Paris Games.
